We use recycled and salvaged hardwoods when we can, in an effort to be eco friendly and have a small carbon footprint.   Many of the trees we use in our custom pieces of furniture come from urban areas where there has been storm damage and the tree had to be removed for safety reasons.  In one case a huge walnut tree  was in the middle of a building site in Chico, California and had to be removed.  The builder had the presence of mind to have it sawn up into huge slabs 3-4’ wide and 18.5’ long.  I custom built 2 table tops for clients in Naples, Florida and also Anchorage, Alaska.  They were beautiful one of a kind tops.
